Hair Extensions for Thin Hair
When it comes to hair extensions for thin hair, find out whether micro bead hair extensions or tape in hair extensions work best for you. When deciding on hair extensions, it is important to find out how much weight, stress and tension will be placed on your natural hair. If you have fine or thin hair, you will need to find a hair extensions method with the lightest density.
You might think that strand-by-strand application would be the lightest method, but you should also consider the potential damage you may cause by bonding individual pieces of hair to naturally thin hair. When the hair is pulled into the micro bead, there could be unnatural tension on the outermost hairs around the bond (if the section is not taken correctly according to AQUA method standards). All of AQUA Hair Extensions certified stylists are taught the correct, and safest way to reduce tension on your hair.

MICRO BEAD HAIR EXTENSIONS (CYLINDER) VS. TAPE-IN HAIR EXTENSIONS
Micro Bead, or Cylinder Extensions are applied strand-by-strand using a special tool to attach each piece of hair extension to your natural hair. A Copper or silicone bead is securely and firmly attached to your natural hair with the tip of the extension.
Unfortunately, if you have thin hair, and the stylist does not apply the extensions properly, the beads can weigh your hair down when they are attached. The weight of each strand will tug and pull on your hair, possibly ruining it in the long run.
A stylist with proper training will know based on your hair history, current condition, and overall density whether Micro Bead (Cylinder) extensions are a good fit for you.
We offer several types of tape options for application: EZ Tabs (less residue for very thin hair types), Re Tape Tabs (our classic Retape), Single Side Tape (for very thin density areas that need less hair).
A Single Side Tape application only uses one weft of AQUA Tape In Extensions, instead of two. This means that instead of using two entire tape wefts to bond the hair, one tape weft extension can be placed on the hair and the other side can be sealed with a single sided piece of tape- cutting the weight of the bonds in half.
Tape In hair extensions for thin hair may work best because they provide long wear with no damage to naturally thin hair.
For the most secure application of Tape In Hair Extensions, we recommend using our Tape-In Hair Extensions Pliers to make sure all of the corners are sealed properly. Your AQUA Stylist should use these pliers to reduce air bubbles and create a secure seal.
